        Before and After

The Assignment:
    Remove damaged stones, cement underneath
    Replace.

Disintegration
The joints failed, water entered, the stone's layers separated.
Wiarton flagstone is nice, but it is made in layers.
Debris from the cement joints and stone was collecting.

Demolition Hammer Removes Stone, Concrete
Removing the stone wasn't hard.
Removing more than an inch of concrete below was important.
This removed concrete gives us a space to fill with new concrete.

Stone Removal
The stone and concrete have been removed.

Stone Layers Separated
This large stone separated into two layers.

The top layer is about one inch thick, the bottom about half an inch thick.

We hadn't planned to do this one originally, but added it as it was unsafe.

Everything Removed
Cleaned thoroughly, we're ready for S-type cement.
Cutting Replacement Stone
A 7 inch diamond-bladed angle grinder cuts along lines.

Installation
You can see the shaped stone already set on the right,
and the cement filling the space where the next stone is to be placed.
All Installed
All the stones are replaced, the joints finished.

48 hours is an ideal time to wait before walking on it, even longer is good.
More than 90 percent of cement's curing happens in the first 48 hours.
