Blocking in Windows, Doors

In this case, the client wanted to waterproof the foundation.
Rebar is set into holes drilled into the door frame. The reinforced blocks are filled with cement.

Shed foundation, 2 rows of blocks, Wall anchors.

The slab sits on a well-packed base, with blocks protecting the lower part of the wall from the snow and future critters. The blocks have anchors set into them to connect with the bottom of the wall's 2x4 framing, with the pink sill gasket to separate and protect the wood from the moisture in the cement blocks.

A Stone Wall to Dismantle

The before picture of this 100 year old wall.
12 feet of the wall are to be removed.
New and wider footings, reinforcements.
Better stone alignment.

Stone Foundation

This stone had fallen out.

Stone Foundation

Repaired.

Natural Stone

The red cement tint softens the fireplace, fitting better with the log home's natural colours.

Installed years ago, it stands strongly.
The outdoor portion presents the only maintenance, pointing.
We'll provide on-going support for your fireplace.

Stone Veneer

Applied outdoors or indoors.
The pattern in this case repeats every 38 square feet.

As accents, the homeowner used cedar borders instead of stone.

Water-Proofing a Foundation

Tar is applied,
The supple yellow mesh is laid smooth into the tar, and more tar is applied,
6 mil plastic is pressed against the tar and mesh, with any joints taped.
Finally, a rigid dimpled membrane covers the water-proofing to protect it.
The membrane is secured with ramset concrete nails with washers.
A weeping tile, wrapped in thick landscape cloth and gravel, helps drain water.

We can dig, move, remove, and fill.

This is about the smallest of the tracked vehicles. As we try to limit our impact on nearby surfaces, we use the smallest we can.

Interlocking Stone:

Interlocking stone isn't something we do alot, as we focus on masonry.

This assignment had three sections, the photo shows the lower section, leading to two sets of stairs.

Two months of near solid rain followed the installation, before this photo was taken: this was the only spot to pool any water.

Below the stone:
A geotextile cloth sits below several inches of mechanically-tamped limestone stonedust.

Between the stone:
A partial fill of dry washed sand, and EnviroBond's polymeric sand seals the top to help water run off. Envirobond is different than other polymeric sands, as it heals after cracking in the next rain cycle. Sold at Merkley Supplies.

Strong plastic edging is staked into the ground along the edge of the interlocking stone to resist spreading.

2 Different Stone Patio Surfaces.

This site was planned by a designer with scaled drawings. We did the excavation and installation.

A 6" thick 60" long Indian sandstone piece with bluish-green hints and rocked edges formed the step onto the patio.

Over 50 2' x 2' square flamed Butterfly Granite formed the main patio, and wrapped around the house (out of frame). Flaming the stone improves the finish.

Limestone flagstone formed an adjacent patio area, using curves to shape it.

The homeowner will fill in the open areas with plants, and put moss between the stones.

11 Connected Posts:
We also set 11 posts in concrete down four feet, setting them perfectly level, plumb and true to each other, to allow the homeowner easy installation of a fence.

Debris. A Licensed Dump.
White bags of brick and cement debris, barely visible in the box.
We bring all our waste to licensed dumps: in Navan, or the Trail Road facility.

Our GMC Sierra 1500 with air-ride suspension can handle more than a half-ton.
No longer new, but very well-maintained. Oil sprayed twice yearly.
No fancy rims, but we do have great tires.   It is a very reliable truck.
